Grid-Tied Systems: What Steps are Involved when Installing Solar that feeds the Grid?
Permits and Inspections through the local Authority-Having Jurisdiction and installing a smart meter are requirements by the electrical energy provider, whose grid will be tied into. All tie-ins must be installed by licensed contractors. We are licensed for all types of solar installations.
How long does it take for a normal Roof-top Solar Installation?
On average, it takes 2-4 days for an installation of a solar system. However, there is paperwork and verifying the right meter is installed which can sometimes take months. This process includes Permitting, Installation and Inspections. We are giving an estimated average, but the time it takes largely depends on the scale of the project but also the cooperation and communication among parties involved in the installation, such as the customer and utility service provider.
How long do Solar Installations last? What can I do to make mine last longer?
We have a 10-Year roof penetration warranty and 1-Year workmanship and manufacturer replacement labor warranty our installations. Most solar panels warranty their products for 25 years and they can create energy output for 25 years and beyond if they are maintained properly. Following the proper Power-up and Shutoff Procedure is one way to make sure the longevity is not impaired. Also, modules do get dirty but they should not be washed during the peak production times when they are “hottest”, so it is suggested to do this closer to Sunrise, or Sunset, in order to avoid causing any sort of damage.
Do you carry a warranty?
We include a 1 year warranty on all of our installations. In the rare occurrences when something breaks or stops working, we come out and fix it!
How do I apply for Solar Rebates?
We do it for you at AltSys Solar when you purchase your system! (Given there are still available rebates at the time of purchase) The amount of solar rebate you receive is based on the size of your installation and is disbursed on a per watt basis.
